What Are We Doing - CBC University of Life

Our response to such great need is a project and educational model called

CBC University of Life.

Offering an extra 4 hours education everyday to 370 local children, the project supplements the under-resourced public school system which is failing in Brazil.

As a proven community based institution run by local Brazilians, CBC University of Life is well respected and a center of hope and opportunity.

Located in Fortaleza, it has taken many years to establish and develop The University of Life into what it is today. We work with children as soon as they start Brazilian first grade at the age 7, and have grown with our students to offer support all the way to the end of high school.

Help Children in the FortalezaIn 2003 we celebrated the high school graduation of our first three students, the first in their community to ever achieve this level of education. Since then, many more have followed and in 2009 we celebrated again as two students graduated from college – another first for the community.

As we see results like this we are inspired to replicate this educational model by starting more projects in more communities. Many of our graduates have expressed the desire to become teachers and co-ordinators of these programs.

In addition, there are many other needs in the community which CBC University of Life is ready to meet when resources become available. These include pre-school care, vocational training and small business development.

In the meantime our goal is to increase the student and staff numbers and expand our current facility so that we can help 500 children everyday. Our waiting lists are full!
